Okay, finally finished the first book of Crescent City. Why was I kind of good at guessing some of these things though? But like at the same time, not really cause I was blindsided at the end of part 3 there. So, my thoughts on this one – first, I just want to say that I still like ACOTAR better because that’s my favorite series, and the Throne of Glass series also ranks before this book, but I also haven’t finished the series and this book was still great and made me lose grip on reality. At one point, the characters started feeling more real to me than my friends and I haven’t felt that about a book in a minute so I’m grateful I read it because I’d put it down the first time I started it. I just have specific comments about the book, but there’s nothing more me to give a review about because Sarah J Maas is a great author and I’ve learned my lesson that I should just read any book that she publishes because it’ll be phenomenal no matter what.
SPOILERS – I can’t believe they killed Danika and the Pack of Devils right off the bat. I hated that because I really liked all of them, but I guess that was the whole point because we would follow with Bryce and be depressed that they were all gone. And then you know, she could just make us cry with that last scene at the end where they wave to her. Like thank you very much Sarah, we get it, you want to leave us with a lifetime of trauma thanks.
Okay during the last part though where Bryce was saving their city, it felt like Hunger Games to me kind of. The way the rest of them were just watching her risk her life while they were in a safe place (the Commitium) and just watching it all on a big screen through city cameras was what I didn’t quite enjoy. I liked ACOTAR on the other hand because it was a team effort when they were saving their city. All of them were individually fighting in sections of Velaris but they were all still there together and fighting and had each other’s back.
Anyways, great book. I was waiting for Rhysand to show up because that was why I started reading the book, because who doesn’t need more of Rhysand in their life. But then he didn’t even show up, but it’s okay because I still really enjoyed the book. Alright, wrapping it up, I’ll leave you with my Part 4 thoughts!
